Vocation Description
Mechatronic systems in automotive engineering, such as break and steering systems, automatic transmissions, suspension systems, and engine management distinguish themselves through complex electronic-mechanic interaction. Automotive mechatronic engineers must feel at home in all areas of automotive engineering, as well as in the fields of automotive mechanics and automotive electronics. The occupation group with this concentration maintains passenger vehicles and repairs them. You also analyze electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems. You determine faults and misfunctions and identify their source. To identify errors, you use automatic measuring and testing systems. You service passenger vehicles and their systems, bring them in to service, and check whether they are in accordance with road traffic regulations. You may carry out test drives or take exhaust measurements. Depending on the customer's wishes, you may outfit the vehicle with various additional equipments, such as coupling devices, air conditioning, navigation systems, or very specific support equipment for disabled drivers.
Practical Training
Practical training takes place at the university's Institute for Automotive Engineering.
Academic Training
Vocational training courses take place at the Mies-van-der-Rohe-Schule, Berufskolleg für Technik der Stadt Aachen, Neuköllnerstraße 17, 52068 Aachen.

Training Salary:
1st Training Year: 1,086.82 euros
2nd Training Year: 1,140.96 euros
3rd Training Year: 1,190.61 euros
4th Training Year: 1,259.51 euros
Contributions to capital formation: 13.29 euros
Job Ticket: starting July 1, 2023, 24 euros a month
Christmas Bonus: 95 percent of November salary
Vacation Days: 30 days a year
