RWTH Professor Bolm Admitted to Academia Europaea

The chemist's own research contributions range from basic research in organic synthesis chemistry to mechanochemistry and the development of new bio-based fuels. He is active within The Fuel Science Center cluster of excellence and the Molecular Science and Engineering profile area at RWTH Aachen University.

Bolm obtained his doctorate in Marburg in 1987 and then completed a postdoctoral period with the Nobel Prize winner Barry Sharpless at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston (USA). In 1993, he habilitated at the University of Basel and in 1996, he accepted a chair in organic chemistry at RWTH. He has been one of the "Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researchers" several times and was made a Fellow of the British Royal Society of Chemistry in 2015. The Society of German Chemists awarded him the Adolf von Baeyer Memorial Medal for his work in the field of catalysis research.
